Unusual Summertime Uses for Melaleuca Products
(Please read our disclaimer)
The Melaleuca Wellness Guide is filled with safer solutions to many everyday problems. One of the reasons a product is helpful for multiple, and sometimes unusual uses, has to do with the individual properties of a product. Take for example T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil. It is naturally antiseptic, soothing, aromatic, penetrating, and a natural solvent. The unique and combined properties of T36-C5 make it an effective remedy. The Melaleuca Wellness Guide lists the use of T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil for over 130 conditions.
Another multitasking product is Sol-U-Mel. The ingredients on the Sol-U-Mel label are SD alcohol 40B, T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil, and tincture of green soap, U.S.P.
SD alcohol 40B is a type of alcohol used in skin care and cosmetics. When alcohol is used in skin care products a small amount of a denaturant is added to the alcohol so that it tastes bad and is not desirable to drink. Alcohol is used as an antifoaming agent, astringent, solvent, and can also function as an antimicrobial agent.
The second listed ingredient in Sol-U-Mel is T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil. And the third ingredient is tincture of green soap, U.S.P. This natural green soap contains no animal products or fillers. It is used for cleaning and disinfecting objects, and is also used to clean and disinfect the skin. Sol-U-Mel is recommended for close to 140 uses in The Melaleuca Wellness Guide.
Here are some of our favorite summertime uses of Melaleuca products:
Insect Repellent - Add a few drops of T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil to an aroma light or small pan of boiling water to keep insects away.
Cuticles - Apply T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil to dry-cracked cuticles. Also use MelaGel which has 23% Melaleuca Oil, cocoa butter, and natural beeswax to seal over wounds and promote healing.
Fingernails - When working in the garden and other particularly dirty areas, it can be challenging to clean our nails. Try washing them with MelaBrite. They will come clean almost instantly and remain snow white. A preventative tip is to rub MelaGel under your fingernails before gardening. Some gardeners also dig their fingernails into a Gold Bath Bar as a dirt preventative.
Dog Odor Remover - Sometimes a dog will roll onto something gross. Remove gunk with paper towels and Tough & Tender. Follow this with diluted Sol-U-Mel.
Super Glue - If you have ever glued your fingers together with Super Glue, you will really appreciate this suggestion. Apply a couple of drops of T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil to the glued area and rub for a couple of minutes. Viola, the glue comes off and skin stays soft. (This works for Crazy Glue, too).
Severe Case of Athlete's Foot - Put 4 tablespoons of Sol-U-Mel in hot water and soak for 20-30 minutes, morning and night for one week. After soaking, apply Dermatin Antifungal Cream as directed.
Now let's look again at these remedies: The insects are repelled by the aromatic nature of Melaleuca Oil.
Cuticles are soothed by the soothing and healing-antiseptic nature of Melaleuca Oil. MelaGel moisturizes and helps seal and heal cuticles.
The fingernails are made almost instantly white by the brightening and gently cleansing nature of MelaBrite. The MelaGel and Gold Bar serve as "dirt barriers." And the solvent and penetrating nature of the products makes for a quick release of the dirt under the fingernails.
Dog odors are removed by the penetrating, solvent, and cleaning nature of the combined ingredients found in Tough & Tender and Sol-U-Mel.
The glue is dissolved by the solvent nature of Melaleuca Oil.
Sol-U-Mel and Dermatin help kill fungus and bacteria.
There are good science-based reasons why some products are effective for a variety of problems that may seem unrelated. Knowing their uses saves us time, money, and possibly more.

Unusual Summertime Uses for Melaleuca Products Success Stories
Mosquitoes, flies, and ants are terrible around here in the summertime. To prevent flies and mosquitos from hovering around our front door I will spray the screens every few days with Melaleuca's Natural Insect Repellent or Sol-U-Guard. Spraying Sol-U-Guard across the threshold or across window sills also stops ants from coming in the house. Last summer, our children and I spent a morning in the backyard, so I put Sun Shade sunscreen on each of us. Later we all went on a picnic with my husband at a campground in the woods near a creek. There were so many mosquitos there, and I was concerned because I had not sprayed the insect repellent on us. However, the mosquitos did not bother anyone who had the sunscreen on. They only bit my husband who was not wearing the sunscreen.
I appreciate Melaleuca's products that are so much safer for my family. I keep The Melaleuca Wellness Guide with my most often used cookbooks so I can quickly look up needed information.

My husband and I love the sunscreen and after sun gel. It does wonders! I also love having The Melaleuca Wellness Guide to have a reference and other ideas. My dog has chronic ear infections and the Guide has not only saved us money but gave us natural alternatives to try for him.

Wow! My daughter sat on a big fat lump of gum at the weekend. This morning she produced the knit fabric dress to see if I knew how to clean it up. The gum was so thick I didn't think it would be possible to completely remove. I went to The Melaleuca Wellness Guide for help. As instructed, I applied undiluted Sol-U-Mel and left the dress for a few minutes. I went back after a few minutes to find the gum had softened, so rubbed it and got quite a bit off. I applied a little more undiluted Sol-U-Mel and left the dress. I got busy elsewhere and after about an hour I went back to check, the gum was completely dissolved. I washed the dress with Melapower. There is absolutely no trace of where the gum had been. I am truly impressed. Wish I had thought to take a before and after picture to share!

I clean my 40 year old copper bottom pots and pans with Tub & Tile along with a little salt and they look like new. This also works on my old plastic ice cube trays by spraying the Tub & Tile in them, add a little salt, then hot water, and let them sit for 5 minutes before putting in the dishwasher. Oh, and the ice tray mixture gets reused for silverware and jewelry. I shine my leather shoes with Rustic Touch and they last so much longer. Spray Revive on fresh sheets after making the bed and my husband tells his friends that I iron them and they actually make it through the week without new stains or strange smells. Shine up faucets and handles and the shine lasts longer. Too much to mention: But there's also Sol-U-Mel and Sol-U-Guard for almost everything else in the house, car, and garden, and it is safe on skin. Don't forget to look up any problems you have in The Melaleuca Wellness Guide. Thank you RM Barry and Melaleuca!

I was out of town staying in a hotel and woke up with the beginnings of pink eye. My eye was all red and itchy, and I was doubly concerned as I was booked to do a Delivering Wellness presentation to a large group. I had my Melaleuca Herbal Tea with me and made a strong cup. When it cooled I used clean cotton pads to wipe my eyes with the tea. It was instantly soothing, and I kept wiping my eyes with the tea throughout the afternoon. At bedtime, I soaked the cotton pads and placed them on my eyes for a while before falling asleep. When I awoke I was pleased to see that the infection had completely cleared! I recommended the same treatment for someone who has a sty in their eye with the same results. How wonderful that we have something so safe and effective to use in so many ways. I am so happy to have the RM Barry newsletter to share our experiences with each other, I always learn so much and look forward to reading it each week.

There are so many uses for Melaleuca products that I keep learning about. My most successful has been the use of the T36-C5 Melaleuca oil for my gums. I have suffered with periodontal concerns most of my life. However, since I've used the Melaleuca dental care products and a routine of the T36-C5 oil for cleaning my gums, my checkups have improved. I can place the oil on a rubber tip and or on the brushes I use to clean between teeth. Daily use has given me the best checkups of my life. Even my dental hygienist comments on the major improvement. Thank you Melaleuca!

For the last thirteen years, I have owned a residential and commercial painting business. My greatest concern has been cleaning up small areas of paint splatters. In the past, I have cringed as I have used toxic products like Goof Off to clean up these spots. When my wife told me about Sol-U-Mel and how it was a non-toxic stain remover, my first thought was "Does it really work?" Used at full concentration, the answer is definitely - Yes! No more toxic products to inhale or absorb on my skin. Thank you Melaleuca!

Several unusual uses come to mind right away. MelaMagic mixed to a fairly strong solution easily wipes out the hoards of box elder bugs that come up near the foundation on the first sunny days of early spring. It also kills the cut worms or whatever they are called, that eat the new growth of my smaller pine trees every spring. Tub & Tile can free up rusted or locked up metal joints, snaps, etc. Provex-Plus has worked as a natural antihistamine for my horse with allergies to insect bites. I can tell if I've forgotten to give it to her. The best one yet ... I have a constipated older cat. I give her Florify each morning in her breakfast. When her system has slowed more than usual I give her FiberWise. An eighth of a teaspoon in about 2 teaspoons of water always saves the day for this little 5 pound girl. If she doesn't feel like eating, I dose her with FiberWise and she's fine fairly soon after.

MelaBrite Oxi is not just for the laundry!! These handy little pods work great in the toilet tank, cleaning the bowl and keeping it fresh. If that's not enough, try dissolving one in a full sink of hot water. I do that to whiten the farm sink in my kitchen instead of using the manufacturer recommended bleach. Honestly, this is one of my favorite products and a wonderful addition to the Melaleuca lineup of great products. I've been shopping with Melaleuca for three years and am even more impressed now than when I first started using the products. Thank you RM Barry for all the invaluable information. I look forward to the newsletter every week!

One unusual use of the Cool Shot Breath Spray is as a stain remover. I spilled my blueberry shake on the pink top I was wearing. I had the Cool Shot in my pocketbook and sprayed it on. In a minute I ran a paper towel over it to brush the stain out. I didn't buy it for that but I figured it was worth "a shot."

My family of three, plus 2 cats and 1 dog, has only been Melaleuca customers since January but we use our products without fail in a variety of ways! I call everything Magic in a Bottle. We use Rustic Touch furniture polish to waterproof our shoes, boots and handbags, as well as clean our indoor plants and shine the stainless steel in the kitchen. We also use it to make our BBQ shine! We use a combination of Sol-U-Mel, Renew Wash and tea tree oil for our food wagon to keep the bugs away, clean the countertops, and spray on my husband when he has an allergic reaction to black flies - that is if we forgot to spray him in the first place! Or he forgot to take his Counteract Allergy. I am glad we use it as bug spray as I sprayed it right in my eye by mistake and nothing happened. If it had been any store bought brand I would have ended up at the doctors. I can spray everything and know we are safe, and so is our food!!!

A few years ago my son was policing in Savannah, GA. He got bitten by a brown recluse spider. Three doctors later and the wound was getting worse. Three days of using Melaleuca Oil on the bite and it was completely healed. Melaleuca is the BEST!
