Taking Care of Winter Skin
Winter is close at hand as leaves are changing color in many parts of the United States, a signal that it is fall. And with winter comes chapped, dry skin due to drier air outdoors and heaters inside the home. Those that suffer from dry skin year-round tend to have more severe problems that can even result in eczema (inflamed skin). Couple that with frequent hand washing and excessively dry skin can be a result.
The Melaleuca Wellness Guide recommends liberally applying Renew Skin Therapy and Triple Antibiotic Ointment or MelaGel to cracked or infected areas. Renew should be used on your hands after washing to help restore moisture. When hand chapping has begun, apply Renew every 4 hours until normal skin moisture is restored. When using skin care products remember to use the lightest lotions first, layering heavier moisturizers over lighter products.
While you are outside enjoying the winter weather, don’t forget to use sun protection. Sun Shades Mineral Plus Sunscreen SPF+30 is soothing and helps provide needed sun protection in summer and in winter. Apply it 30 minutes before going outside and reapply frequently if you stay outside a long time.
The area that seems to become chapped more readily than hands during the winter months are the lips. Sun Shades Lip Balm, Sei Bella Luxury Lip Color, or Sei Bella Lip Gloss contain emollients that create a protective, healing barrier. Sei Bella Lip Treatment contains mango and shea butter along with vitamin E. If lips are already chapped, avoid licking or biting off dry skin. Our saliva contains digestive enzymes that are very drying. Chapped lips need repeated coatings of lip balm to allow the fragile lip skin to heal.
According to the Mayo Clinic, in order to prevent skin from getting excessively dry we need to use skin cleansers and shower gels that aid in moisturizing versus those that are soap based. Sun Valley Body Wash contains Vitamin E, Aloe, and Shea Butter that helps not only clean, but also hydrates your skin.
According to Livestrong, omega-3 fatty acids heal the skin from the inside out, and also make our skin more resilient. Vitality Coldwater Omega-3 contains the ideal balance of DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids.
Lutein and zeaxanthin provide healthful antioxidants not only for eye health but also for skin health. NutraView contains the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin. CellWise also contains skin-benefiting antioxidants.
And don’t forget your feet! Use either Renew or Body Satin Foot Lotion on your feet before putting on your socks to moisten and nourish your feet.
So inside, outside, from top to bottom, you can weather any cold, dry winter conditions and still have supple skin.

Winter Skin Care Success Stories
I have always been prone to dry skin. As a physical therapist, I am constantly washing my hands, and the winter months as well as this COVID crisis, are extremely difficult on my skin. Since I have found the Renew lotion, I will never be without it! It keeps my skin soft and smooth, and the skin on my hands doesn't crack in the winter. I even keep trial sizes handy to give to some of my patients when they struggle with dry skin. I also love The Melaleuca Wellness Guide that my family regularly turns to for any home health and cleaning remedy!

When I was in high school I bought a pair of leather loafers that were too small but wore them anyway. The leather stretched to fit my foot but the sole did not! Eventually my foot developed a tough rim of skin around my heels that stuck over the foot beds of those shoes. This has caused me pain and suffering for almost 50 years! In winter the tough skin around my heels would crack and bleed, making it painful to walk. I often tried to pick that skin away, going too deep causing more walking pain. This went on year after year. But not anymore! Some five years ago I began a practice of putting Renew on my feet after a bath every three days. For years now I have no cracking or pain. I checked my heels the other day and they are perfectly normal, no ridge at all. I lived the last five years in China and made sure I always had my Renew and, of course, the body lotion for the rest of me.

I live in Baja California Sur Mexico in the winter. My skin gets so dry here. I speak of elbows, knees, arms, legs, and especially feet. My feet split and are sore. After I shower I have found that, if I use Renew lotion, all of these areas heal and are smooth and soft. I'm a very firm believer in Renew. I use it more frequently here, and the results are outstanding!

In the summer of 2013, I had something going on with just my left foot. It was dry, cracking, and started getting little cuts on the side. Then it started getting really sore, and I could barely walk on it. I put every lotion-cream on it that I had! I even tried my son's $37 diaper rash cream. Nothing worked!! I finally went to the doctor. She said I just had severe dry skin, and gave me a tube of ointment with steroids in it to try and get rid of the dryness. Well I used it for a couple days, but then, in the same week, I was introduced to Melaleuca!! When I saw the video of the little boy that had eczema from head to toe, and saw what the Renew lotion did for him. With our 60 days money back guarantee, what did I have to lose? So I enrolled and purchased the Renew right away!!! I put the Renew on my foot with a sock before going to bed each night, and within 3 days my dry foot was so soft and smooth, and the soreness went away!! I was amazed!! I had a few of the cuts still, only because they were deeper, but those also went away!! I don't go a day without using my Renew!! I Love that product, and I Love Melaleuca! Thank you!!

This winter, we had a week where the highs were below zero temperatures, and the lows were in the negative double digits getting as low as 40 degrees below zero with the wind chill. These temperatures are not uncommon for the area I live, but before starting with Melaleuca, my skin would take a hit during these cold spells. I would dry out so bad that my hands would crack and bleed, my legs would get flaky, and the rest of my body would be so itchy from dried out skin that I would have a hard time falling asleep. This winter, though, I started applying Renew lotion to my body after my showers. Not only did my skin stop itching and my hands stop cracking, but my skin actually felt smoother than before the cold spell hit when I didn't use Renew regularly! I appreciate shopping with a company whose products actually do what they are advertised to do!

It was too late for me to "Prevent Dry Winter Skin." I had it and now. I had to get rid of it ASAP. I would finish my workout and when I took off my leggings before my shower it looked like I was peeling off a layer of skin. Same with my jeans or any other pants I put on. My skin was so dry and flaky, it was becoming uncomfortable. My hands were so dry and cracked around my nails, they were bleeding. My heels became so dry and cracked, they were bleeding too. I have been using Renew for several years now and I had honestly gotten a bit lazy about using it every day. I needed a quick fix because I was miserable from the tips of my fingers down to my heels. Solution, there were several: First, I got religious about using Renew every morning immediately after the shower and every evening before bed. I used extra during the day on my hands and placed the travel size tube in my car so I wouldn't forget. At night, I mixed it with MelaGel for my heels and wore socks to bed. Some of the time I use Triple Antibiotic Cream with MelaGel on the cracks on my fingers with a bandage for immediate relief. I did this on my bleeding heels too. This helped immensely and quickly too. Within days, I noticed a difference. My fingers weren't bleeding, and my heels were healing. I also added a few drops of Melaleuca Oil with my Renew after the shower each day. I noticed the difference immediately, and I lost the alligator scales on my skin within the first several days of doing this. Within less than a week my skin wasn't itchy, flaky or bleeding. What a relief. I reminded myself on the importance of being hydrated, something I'm usually very good about but was just not doing it enough. I committed to drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day. To help with this I added Sustain to my water bottles. I also added it to seltzer because I like a fizzy drink, and I'm trying to stay away from diet sodas. I know this had to help with my dry skin, not to mention, it helps with weight loss too. I really noticed it in my complexion. My face had lost the dryness and besides using the entire Sei Bella line the extra water made such a difference. It continues to amaze me that with such little effort, there are such big results.

My family has been customers for a year, and one of our favorite products is Renew. My son had gotten a bad cold last year and was going through tissues like crazy, thus getting a very red irritated nose. I put Renew around his nostrils while he slept at night, and the next day all the chapped redness was gone! I was amazed! We regularly use Renew on our hands in the winter. It has cleared up the seasonal eczema I get on my ring finger from frequent hand washing in the winter and keeps my feet soft and smooth!

I used to get hands so dry in the winter they would crack and bleed. It would burn to put anything on them, and would burn just to wash them. I started using Melaleuca products and saw an improvement. When I started using Renew is when I saw the biggest improvement. I use Renew daily and now my hands are no longer cracked and bleeding. This is the second full winter I have used it. I live in the Midwest, and last winter was the worst I have ever experienced. I keep a travel size in my purse, and anytime I wash my hands at work, or a place that does not have Melaleuca Liquid Soap, I put some Renew on after washing, because otherwise within minutes of washing my hands start to get itchy. After the lotion they feel as best as they can from using chemical soap until I can get home to good soap. I am so impressed with Renew and how my hands feel. It is the first thing that actually kept my hands not a mess in winter. Even my husband has commented about the smoothness of my hands. I gave a sample size to my boss to try when her hands were really bad, and she said after just a couple times using, she noticed improvement.

I have bad dry skin that itches constantly. I began using Renew Lotion when I received my first value pack a few years ago. I apply it religiously right after my morning shower. It does wonders. I can get through my daily work without the need to scratch or rub itchy areas. I work with large amounts of freight in cardboard boxes once a week. The boxes dry out my hands so severely that my skin cracks and splits from dryness. I apply MelaGel as soon as the day is done. It takes just a couple of days to be fully healed. For the worst skin splits I use the Melaleuca Oil T36-C5. Both of these products relieve the pain immediately and promote active healing. Can't do without my Renew and tea tree oil aids.

My husband had dry itchy hands for years. So dry from the work he did with the phone company, working with wires, in all kinds of weather. His hands were a mess, very painful not only from the weather but from the deep cuts as well. He tried every over-the-counter treatment there is, as well as prescription medication! The cost was unreal, and the results were not! Then when we started building our Melaleuca Business in 2004 I bought a Value Pack as my first order (everything worked so well the second order was a Home Conversion Pack). Of course the Renew Lotion was in the pack. My husband said even though he had his doubts he would give the Renew a try. Two days later he came to me and showed me his hands. They were almost healed. The deep cuts were closing and the dryness was gone!! He said he was using the Renew every time he would wash his hands. I told him that was overkill but he told me we better never run out of Renew. LOL He now only uses it in the morning after his shower and sometimes after having to use a strong cleaner, if he is not at home using our Melaleuca products. Renew has given him such relief. He used to be afraid to hold our grandchildren for fear his hands and fingers would hurt them, Thank you Melaleuca from a grateful Melaleuca family!

Last Winter my friend's little girl had severe eczema on her hands to the point of cracking and bleeding. I overheard her mom talking to her grandma and showing her her daughter's little hands. I always carry Renew travel size lotion in my purse so I immediately gave her one. The grandma's hands were raw and cracking from the Winter weather, so I gave her a tube as well. Just one week later both were thrilled with the results and asking where they could get this great product. Renew is always in my home. It's like a refreshing drink of water to a drying plant. Your skin just drinks it up and feels so fresh. Thanks Melaleuca for such a fantastic product!

I want to tell my story about Renew. My hubby is a truck driver who drives into the far end of northern Ontario every other week. Frequently he has to work on the truck without gloves in cold and dry weather. You can imagine what this does to his hands after awhile. They become cracked and sore. He's been searching for just the right hand cream that will heal, not smell, and not be greasy. I introduced him to Renew and he loves it. It's the only product now that works for him.

I have two testimonies to share about Renew lotion. First, I used to get a terrible dermatitis on my legs in the cold wintertime. My legs would get really dry, turn purple, and develop "scales." After I became a Melaleuca customer, I started using Renew Lotion all winter. NO MORE dry scales on my legs! Second, my grandson used to have eczema on his arms. He would cry at night because his arms itched, burned, and hurt. His mother started using Renew Lotion on his arms. This lotion completely HEALED his eczema.
