Exciting Tea Tree Oil Uses

Tea tree oil is antiseptic, soothing, safely penetrating, non-caustic, aromatic, antimicrobial, anti-fungal, and more. The many properties of tea tree oil make it effective for a variety of conditions.

It helps fight infection and has long been used as a soothing first aid treatment for cuts and burns. PubMed notes that staph, particularly MRSA, can cause life threatening infections. Tea tree oil preparations were found effective, safe, and well-tolerated when compared with two topical hospital MRSA treatments.

For earaches The Melaleuca Wellness Guide suggests using a drop of T36-C5 or T40-C3 mixed with 15 to 20 drops of warm olive oil. Insert the oil mixture directly into the outside ear canal with a dropper 3 to 4 times daily. Avoid using full strength T36-C5 in ears as local irritation can result. A wet warm compress can be made by dropping a few drops of tea tree oil on a wet wash cloth and warming it up in the microwave and holding it against the outer ear.

Tea tree oil's aromatic and antimicrobial properties help relieve nasal congestion and soothe bronchitis. Breathe the enriched steam from a vaporizer or bowl of steaming water each morning and night. Add 5 drops of T36-C5 directly to the water. Form a tent over your head and vaporizer or bowl, breathing the aromatic vapors through your nose and mouth, gently into your lungs. Keep your eyes closed.

The American Cancer Society notes that a study published in 2006 showed that tea tree oil can kill the yeasts that cause mouth infections in cancer patients with weakened immune systems. Melaleuca's Dental Polish, Mouth Rinse and Breath-Away Spray features gentle, but effective T40-C3 Melaleuca oil.

Tea Tree Oil Success Stories

I think every home should have a bottle of Tea Tree Oil and my home is certainly no exception. I use it almost daily for one thing or another. I add a few drops to my Melaleuca Sei Bella Shampoo when my scalp is a little flaky and it resolves the issue immediately. If I have any breakouts on my face, I add a few drops to my Sei Bella Face Wash and after a day or two the break outs are gone and my skin looks great. My husband had what appeared to be a toe fungus this past summer and I had him apply a little in the morning and a little before bed with a Q-tip, and within about 18-days or less it was gone. The doctor had wanted to put him on medication, and I suggested he wait and try Melaleuca Oil instead. This summer I got an extremely terrible sunburn so I mixed about 5 drops of Melaleuca Oil with a few drops of lavender oil in about 2 oz. of coconut oil and lightly rubbed it all over the burn. It took the sting out of the burn right away, I continued using it for several days and I never peeled which shocked me the most. A group of us went to a beach where we all ended up with tar all over out feet. Once home, I had everyone use the same mixture of coconut oil, Melaleuca Oil and Lavender. No one believed me that it would take it all off. Voila, tar gone with a simple wipe. I also put several drops of Melaleuca Oil on my Air-Conditioning and Heating Filters about every 2-3 months to clean any bacterial or mold buildup. Too many other uses to list. Hard to believe that one little bottle could do so much.

There are so many ways to use just this one essential oil. I have put Tea Tree Oil on countless cuts, burns, sunburns, warts, zits and other owies over the almost 14 years I have shopped with Melaleuca. My most amazing experience happened when I was a brand new customer. I was teaching Kindergarten and hardly ever sat down. My feet hurt so bad by the end of the day I could hardly walk. In the morning they would also be very tender. I wore good shoes with orthotics, and had tried other remedies, but nothing helped more than putting Melaleuca oil on my feet every morning. I don't know why it worked and maybe it was just in my head, but The Melaleuca Wellness Guide states under Athletic Injuries, "regular application of T36-C5 stimulates circulation to injured tissues," and I thought perhaps it would help with inflammation as well. I have to admit there was a nice side effect; no stinky foot smell in my shoes. The pain completely cleared up a while later, and I credit Tea Tree Oil with getting me through that time, (it was before Peak Performance). I rely on The Melaleuca Wellness Guide and frequently look for answers to resolve issues. Not only does it contain health promoting information for people, but wonderful garden tips, and helps for treating animals. I love that it is indexed in two ways; by product and by problem, making it easy to learn how to use Melaleuca products. There is also a section explaining the origins of Melaleuca: The Wellness Company, which is a really great story!

Two favorite uses for T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil are to treat and prevent cold sores and to treat burns. When I first feel that "tingle" that is the beginning of a cold sore, I can apply the oil a few times a day and prevent it from progressing further. If I get it in the very beginning, it never gets bigger. If I miss the first signs and start to get the outbreak, I will have the sore spot for a short time, but the oil stops it from getting any worse. The large blisters that scab over never materialize. I often use the T40-C3 to avoid any extra irritation that I sometimes get with T36-C5.

We have had numerous times when we got a burn that never developed blisters or prolonged pain by applying T36-C5 immediately after getting the burn. There inevitably are no or very few signs the following day that there was ever a problem. Melaleuca Oil is such a great thing to have in our home, car, etc. You never know when you might have a use for it.

I've been using Melaleuca products for nine months and have found various uses for tea tree oil. But I baffled a podiatrist recently when I had a toenail permanently removed. He told me that it would be a 6-week healing process. I began putting a drop of T36-C5 on the wound once a day. When I went for my one month check-up, the doctor was totally amazed that the wound was 100% healed.

I love the Melaleuca Oil! We use it for so many things...cuts, bites, even putting it in the vaporizer when sick or problems with upper respiratory problems. But my favorite testimony is from a customer of mine. She had a problem spot on her foot from a staph infection. She was being treated by a doctor and the treatments didn't seem to be working as well as they wanted. She took the Melaleuca Oil with her to an appointment and asked the doctor if she could use it on the infection. His response was, "It's your foot!" She went home and used it and with her next appointment was asked by her doctor, "Are you still using that 'Mela Whatever'?" She said, "Yes." He then told her it looked like she better stick with it, and released her from having to come back.

I love all of Melaleuca's products, but I have a great testimonial in regard to tea tree oil. My blue healer, Lucy was jumping over a cattle gate when she snagged her skin and ripped it back from her underarm, down her stomach, to her lower leg - exposing organs, bone and muscle. The vet said she had never seen anything like it, and did not know if the dog could be saved. Lucy required stitches in three layers of tissue and looked like Frankenstein. The vet said to bring her home and watch her, if the area became red or inflamed, that could be fatal.

The next morning, Lucy WAS red and inflamed around her stitches! I got a cotton ball and applied the tea tree oil. The redness went away shortly, and after reapplying it regularly, she made an amazing recovery. The vet was amazed and said she couldn't believe how fast and well Lucy healed - I know it was the Melaleuca Tea Tree Oil! I really believe it saved her life!

Well, I like Melaleuca oil for all the regular reasons: cuts, scraps, burns, etc... it causes all those to heal super fast. It does a fabulous job when you add 5 drops to a bowl of hot water and use it as a vapor treatment when you have a cold or to clear out congestion. But my greatest success story for Melaleuca oil is how it has helped my hemorrhoids.

I developed hemorrhoids when I was nine months pregnant with our son. I heard about the usual treatments but it just seemed to be getting worse until I was introduced to Melaleuca. I immediately started using the FiberWise and couldn't believe how well that worked. Every once in a while I get a flare up and when that happens I apply a couple of drops of Melaleuca oil with a cotton ball and follow up with a little MelaGel. It immediately stops the burning and itching associated with hemorrhoids and by the next morning everything is 100% better!

I actually have two favorite tea tree oil uses. The first is I put it on a cotton ball and insert it into my vacuum to freshen the air in our house. My second favorite use is in the MelaGel which I have been putting on my granddaughter's diaper rash. Nothing else has helped the rash she has which includes chaffing and bleeding as her skin is so raw. Once her mom and I started using the MelaGel the diaper rash has disappeared.

The Melaleuca T36-C5 oil is one of my favorite product. We have used it topically for insect bites, removing warts, eliminating fungus under toe nails, cold sores, toothaches, and more. Another helpful use is for cold congestion ...sniff the bottle of T36-C5 tea tree oil to clear stuffy nasal passages, and then add a few drops of the oil to a cup of hot water. Breathe in the steam and it will relieve the chest congestion (especially helpful for our asthmatic family). Then, when the cup of water with the melaleuca oil cools down, use it to gargle, and it will help relieve the sore or itchy throat, too. The T36-C5 Melaleuca oil is indeed the Wonder from Down Under.

Here's a short and sweet story about how I use tea tree oil. A couple of weeks ago I had a toothache. It was actually caused by a crown in my mouth being slightly moved out of whack by flossing, nothing I could really do about it, but it ached for several days. I finally took some Pain-A-Trate and rubbed in on my jaw in that area. Feeling the penetration, I didn't really want to put it directly in my mouth but I had an idea. I took some T36-C5 on a Q-tip and rubbed it directly on the top of the tooth that was bothering me. Within 30 seconds the pain had completely stopped and did not come back!

We love the many ways Tea Tree Oil has helped our family! One of the uses that have made a difference for us is how it helps keep our dog's ears clean and infection free. We have a basset bound and those soft, long ears can have some smelly problems if they aren't kept clean. We started putting a few drops of tea tree oil on a cotton ball along with a glycerin-based ear cleaner, using the cotton ball to wipe the outer ear canal, and it has kept our dog's ears healthy and clean.
