Dental Care - A Healthy Mouth Means a Healthy You!

You’ve probably heard that the mouth has a connection to the rest of your body’s health? We know instinctively that the foods we eat play a major role in how we feel and are able to carry on daily activities. But seriously—could the mouth, specifically our oral health, be a predictor of the rest of our body’s health?
 
Studies have shown that the health of the mouth, especially as we age, is a “window to general health.” This knowledge actually dates back to 1891 when a dentist working with Robert Koch (father of bacteriology and concept of infectious diseases) discovered that infections in the mouth created infections in other parts of the body—especially in the heart and systemic system.
 
In the early years, teeth were pulled to prevent further infections, but now we know that preventative care is far better and easier. The Melaleuca Wellness Guide states, “proper brushing and flossing habits are essential to reduce the microbial population.”
 
Brushing and flossing alone won’t help with oral care unless the medium used helps with preventing plaque and bacteria in the mouth. Melaleuca Oil has been proven to reduce bacteria in the mouth and is a main ingredient in Melaleuca’s Tooth Polish, Floss, and Mouth Rinses. Along with Melaleuca oil, papain (an enzyme from papaya) is used in the Tooth Polish to help naturally whiten teeth. I have a great story from a recent visit to my dentist for a cleaning. While the tech was busy cleaning my teeth, she asks, "Have you seen another dentist for your cleaning"? (It had been quite a while since I had been there.) I responded, "No". She then says "What are you doing then?" After she finished I told her. She thought I had recently had my teeth cleaned! She did not schedule me for a follow-up, just told me to call when I thought I needed one. I have been using our fabulous products for 12 years and wouldn't use anything else!

I became a Melaleuca customer in 2008. I knew I loved the Renew Lotion so I agreed to my friend introducing the company to me. The products had me in awe at the end of month number 2 as a new customer. I was married to a dentist who was soon to retire, but who agreed to test the dental products. His hygienist chose 6 patients all with gum/gingivitis issues. One was a teenager with braces.
