Caring for Feet and Toenails

(Please read our disclaimer)
The average person walks from 40,000 to over 100,000 miles in their lifetime. This is the equivalent of walking two to four times around the world. Here are some tips on foot care provided by The Melaleuca Wellness Guide:

Diabetic foot ulcerations can be especially difficult to heal. The Melaleuca Wellness Guide tells us that diabetes causes blood vessel walls to thicken. This decreases the blood flow to the feet and lower legs. Some diabetics suffer from neuropathy and poor circulation. Neuropathy makes feet numb and unable to feel heat, cold, pressure, cuts, or bruises. These conditions can combine to create a situation where routine cuts, scrapes, and blisters can develop into gangrene. If not treated aggressively, gangrene will result in limb amputation. For foot ulcerations, soak feet in a tubful of warm water to which you have added 1 tbsp of Renew Bath Oil and 1 capful of Sol-U-Mel. After soaking for 10 to15 minutes, dry and liberally apply T36-C5 to any sore or lesion. As this is drying, apply a thin coat of MelaGel.

Athlete's foot is a very common fungal infection that causes itching, burning, peeling, and cracking of the feet and toenails. Read this WebMD article. For a severe case of athlete's foot, put 4 tbsp of Sol-U-Mel in hot water and soak feet for 20 to 30 minutes, morning and night, for one week. After soaking, carefully dry feet, especially between toes. Apply Dermatin, which contains the doctor recommended 1% clotrimazole and T36-C5 Melaleuca oil. Or you can use T36-C5 followed by MelaGel which contains 23% T36-C5 plus cocoa butter and natural beeswax. Be sure to wear clean white cotton socks, changing them daily. Dribble a few drops of T36-C5 on clean socks and rub them together before putting them on. At home, and whenever possible, wear sandals. Keep feet dry and clean.

Your feet will look and feel better after using Body Satin Foot Scrub which contains crushed Asian bamboo and jojoba beads to gently buff away rough dry spots. To revive tired feet, spray Body Satin Foot Spray which contains glycerin and natural oils. Give your feet extra moisturizers like those found in Body Satin Foot Lotion.

Sei Bella Nail Polish is a stylish nail polish that is long-lasting and resists chipping. It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP).

Aging can be hard on our feet, so whenever you get a chance, put your feet up, stretch your toes, and try not to cross your legs. May your feet continue to walk many more miles.

Feet and Toenails Success Stories

As a diabetic who has to carefully watch and care for my feet, I have found that the Renew Intensive Skin Therapy Lotion with Lavender Essential Oil is the best product I have found for keeping my feet soft and healthy. The Renew lotion alone is very effective, but combined with lavender makes it work even better since lavender is known for its healing powers. Even some of the spider veins around my ankles have disappeared/gotten smaller since I have been using this product. And it smells so good!!! I rub some on my arms and wrists before I go to bed and it helps me get a good night's sleep.

When it comes to caring about my feet, my favorite product is Renew lotion. I often have the rough and scaly skin on my heels that breaks sometimes. So in the evening, I soak my feet in warm water and after that, I apply Renew lotion and massage my feet. The next morning, I see a big difference in the way my feet look and feel. This is my miracle lotion. Thank you Melaleuca!

I enjoy reading The Melaleuca Wellness Guide and I think that it is a must-have for every customer. This book is loaded with a lot of information about Melaleuca products that we use every day. I like the tips and suggestions that it talks about. It is good not just for our bodies, but for our pets and our environment. This book makes a great gift for new customers who are just getting to know Melaleuca.

Hi, we are happy customers since December 2013. At the time, my husband was suffering from stinky feet. He bought so many shoes, from cheap to expensive but nothing was working. I was always asking him to wash his feet even when he came home for a quick lunch during the day.

A few months later I did read in The Melaleuca Wellness Guide that we can use Melaleuca essential oil to reduce the odors. So after each shower, he did put a few drops in his hand and rubbed his feet, then applied Renew lotion. After a few weeks, everything was gone ... and still gone after 5 years. If in the summertime, a tiny odor begins to appear, he starts using the oil again and in a few days, everything is back to normal.

Thank goodness for Pain-a-Trate! As an avid surfer, as well as Food Server, on my feet for many hours per day, I rely on the stimulating fast relief of Melaleuca's muscle and joint pain cream. For a more intensified experience, I add a few drops of Melaleuca T-36 oil on top of the cream, or better yet, the Blue Heat essential oil blend. To tackle toe fungus, I placed a few drops of Melaleuca T-40 oil on the end of the nail several times a day so that it drenches the underneath gap of the nail. Within two to three weeks the fungus is gone.

I have always been embarrassed by my feet. I danced from the time I was 3 all the way through college, so my feet were never free of calluses. My feet were always rough and snagged everything. I hid them as much as possible. During a visit to a dermatologist for an unrelated issue, I discovered that part of my rough skin issue came from a mild fungal infection. I was prescribed a topical antifungal and told that I would probably have to use it daily for the rest of my life to keep the infection away. I used the prescription for two months before I found out I was pregnant. Not wanting to take any unnecessary drugs, I stopped applying the antifungal. Slowly, over the next few months, I watched as the rough, cracked, itchy skin began to return. I was upset the infection was returning but refused to use something while pregnant. Around the same time, I joined Melaleuca and received a Gold Bar in my first order. I didn't purchase the Gold Bar for my feet, but I was stunned to see the fungal infection disappearing after just a couple weeks of using it. I am so happy I won't have to use a prescription for the rest of my life. After the success with the Gold Bar, I couldn't wait to try the foot products. I started using the Body Satin Foot Lotion. My feet are now soft, and I am no longer embarrassed to wear sandals. I also love the Body Satin Foot Spray. It feels great after I've been on my feet all day.

Recently my toe became inflamed and was so sore that it hurt to walk. After soaking my foot, the swelling and discoloration and signs of infection were obvious. I massaged it as much as I could, although it was very painful to touch. I applied T36-C5 directly to my toe, and the next morning was pain-free. The swelling and discoloration were gone! It truly was surprising how quickly the oil worked.

My healthy feet and nails story is about my 80 some year old mother with Alzheimer's. She was completely in bed unable to help herself. While I was taking care of her, I noticed her toenails. Her toes had a white powder-like substance under the nails. She has had a nail fungus for many years, and her toenails were pulled away from her toes so that the sheets were always catching. I decided to use some T36-C5. I put a single drop under each toenail. The next morning the white powdery stuff was a yellowish color and her toenails grew out normal after that one use. Thank you Melaleuca for something that works for everything!

I have been with Melaleuca and using Renew for 2 years and find it to be amazing. I no longer wear rubber gloves for doing household chores or dishes. I have very dry skin and have suffered cracked heels all my adult life. Applying Renew liberally to my heels every day has helped that problem. Renew also works well on my grandson's hands when they don't dry them well, and the hands become chapped. Thank you Renew!
